چکیده
The energy balance differences between urban and rural areas give rise to a representative phenomenon of climate change called the heat island (UHI). UHI phenomenon, which is exacerbated by global warming effects expansion, exposes populations thermal stress overheating. Therefore, measuring intensity vulnerability needed mitigate its on health, comfort, consumption infrastructure. Additionally, decision makers are looking for methodologies identify most vulnerable in planning. This research aims investigate prone overheating Montpellier Mediterranean metropolitan area as case study French planning context. objective develop methodology assessing based interaction exposure sensitivity policies. Accordingly, set fifteen indicators developed visualize policies, A statistical-based method applied determine individual weights indicators’ variance, calculated using principal component analysis (PCA). spatial distribution then analyzed. results indicate that with highest challenges UHI. In fact, reveal these have characteristics likely aggravate this proposes integrating mitigation solutions into planning: increase permeable green areas; improvement ventilation exchange decrease anthropogenic generation. It demonstrates combining policies new perspective studies. findings can be utilized better susceptible plan appropriate strategies.

Changes in Wind Speed under Heat Waves Enhance Urban Heat Islands in the Beijing Metropolitan Area
The interaction between urban heat islands (UHIs) and heat waves (HWs) is studied using measurements collected at two towers in the Beijing, China, metropolitan area and an analytical model. Measurements show that 1) the positive interaction betweenUHIs andHWs not only exists at the surface but also persists to higher levels (up to ;70m) and 2) the urban wind speed is enhanced by HWs during day...

متن کاملVulnerability to heat waves: Impact of urban expansion scenarios on urban heat island and heat stress in Paris (France)
Heat-wave risk in cities is determined both by regional climate evolutions and by cities size and shape change, because they can impact heat island effect. Land planning and urban transport policies, due to their long-lasting impact on cities shape, can therefore play a role in heat-wave risk mitigation. However, the link between these policies and resulting change in urban heat island is far f...
